Re: New Software.

So YouView have now released a new version which includes discover section, watch list, action panel etc.
Lots of new things to try there but nothing even in site for paying BT customers...

Cant see the issue here. Dont standard Youview boxes get the updates first anyway which then filters down to customer boxes like BTs ??

Re: New Software.

No. Read the announcement and you will see YouView Retail and BTTV are taking seperate paths. In theory any enhancement made for Retail may never make it to BT's service (and vice versa). In the past the software has been done in tandem so the releases were very close. Dont expect to see any of these enhancements anytime soon on the service you are paying for...

Re: New Software.

You're going to be waiting quite a while for this latest stuff to be 'filtered' down to any BT boxes. With Youview doing their thing now and BT doing their own this won't be the first time functionality appears on one but not on the other.

Re: New Software.

No they haven't. There are those reporting on other forums, people who have always been correct in the past, who have stated there is no sign of these latest additions even being tested by BT.

Personally I take from the statements made by BT and Youview that both parties are moving in different directions (as do most other observers). https://community.bt.com/t5/YouView-from-BT/Future-box-update/td-p/1813462

https://community.youview.com/youview/discussion/7604247/youview-statement-on-box-updates

As a result I can't see BT making these improvements a priority, in fact I'd expect (and hope) they would be planning a return to the 'jump to time' feature. They did say future improvements on their own boxes would be based on user feedback and that some functionality on retail boxes may not be available to BT boxes (and vice versa).

The BT statement makes much of the developments planned for the older T1000 boxes which may imply that they will be getting priority before any further enhancements to the other BT boxes.

I still feel we will be waiting for some time before we see the recent retail enhancements making it to our boxes (although the infrastructure is there should they wish to do so).
