Re: Sound cutting out with new BT TV box

Go to solution
The setting was already on 1080i, the only other option is 720p so I will try that and monitor - the picture is always ok, just no sound. If it does it again I will hook up the amp and see if that works, that will prove if it is the TV or YouView box - never had any issues with the Sky box...
It is very random and doesn't happen that often but the only fix is to remove power from the YouView to reboot.
Thanks...

Re: New account with YouView Box not working

Go to solution
Ok, I have tried this but it doesn't work, I have to unplug the BT box, plug back in again and wait till it resets.
I have also swapped out the HDMI cables for the TV and Youview box - no change.
If I fast forward a recording, as soon as I hit play, the sound is gone, never to come back and this now happends every time.
It is now getting a little annoying to say the least.
Any ideas ?

That is an ongoing issue with everybody.

Re: New account with YouView Box not working

I am still having problems with this youview box, not working from new.
I have changed the tv to a 4k samsung and also the hdmi cables.
I understand there are sound issues after fast forward and this might be software related but I loose sound after skipping through maybe 5 or 6 channels - no one else seems to have this issue.
I am thinking now it must e a faulty box - how do I go about getting swapped out ?

What have you set the HDMI output resolution to, on the YouView box?

Re: New account with YouView Box not working

The old plasma was 720p or 1080i, this one is 1080P.
When the sound goes, I go to setup, set the display to a different resolution, it asks to save, I say no and the soud comes back.
This is only relavent when channel hopping...

Re: New account with YouView Box not working

Try changing the resolution to 1080i (Interlaced).

Just because the TV may support 1080p (progressive), it does not mean the the YV box can maintain this higher bit rate, there may be timing issues which are causing the loss of sound.

Its worth trying to see if it helps, you are very unlikely to notice the difference on the picture.
