'One for All' universal remote and DTR2100 BT/Youview box?

Go to solution

Hi,  just got a new BT TV setup for my parents to replace their expensive and largely underused Sky sub, and I'm pretty pleased with it generally.

However, the remote control is a bit complicated and fiddly for them to use.  They only really need basic navigation functions and to be able to launch digital teletext so I was thinking about getting an easier to use replacement remote.

The ones which caught my eye were the One For All 'Essence 2' remote or maybe the 'Broadcast Replacement Remote'.

It seems at any rate that the Essence one isn't a learning remote and relies on a set of internal codes - has anyone here got experience of using one with the DTR-2100 box ... i.e. Does it actually have the codes built in?

Also, anyone used the other one (Broadcast Replacement Remote)?  It seems to have learning capability so I'm pretty sure I could get it to work but the Essence would be preferable as it is very similar to their existing TV remote layout.

Just to follow up on my own post, I was out shopping and picked one up anyway. It does (mostly) work with the supplied code set but unfortunately the button that I would have expected to be 'Text' on the Essence (it is text when in TV mode) seems to be equivalent to 'record'.

As such, even though it's generally much easier to use it's not really suitable if you want to use the digital text service.

I have just bought an All-for-one "4", this can control the Youview box.

After a bit of searching I found the code is 3140. This is not listed in the manual included with the device.

Also the "4" seems to be on offer in asda/sainsuburys for £10 at the moment. Its better in all respects than the original.

@GeneralPostoffice. It's fairly easy to add missing functions on a oneforall remote. Assuming you have an unused button, for example the -/-- , AV, 16:9 or Fav. Here is a link to the oneforall website explaining how its done

http://www.oneforall.co.uk/faq/59-universal-remotes/101-essence-remotes-urc7110-7140/328-essence-2-u...

The Digital TEXT key code is 00070. Anothers you may find useful are 00249 which will take you straight to "Myview", 00043 for BTPlayer and 00166 for Subtitle

Although it does not say on the website you can test by tapping the Magic key such that it blinks once and then entering the 5 digit code. e.g M*,00070. You then see that the function works before adding to the remote

Many thanks ... will give this a go and see how I get on.  It would make using the system a lot easier for my father.

Interesting to know the codes too - are there lists of individual key command codes (as opposed to the complete device sets in the manual) anywhere?

These EFC (Extended Function Codes) differ by original remote type and the button layout. As the BT boxes are made by Humax the same codes work in either case and I'd used them on a Foxsat box prior to getting my BT T2100. Plus some trial and error after searches on the internet.

I have used a Onforall remote for a number of years and its useful to add missing functions. Many original remotes come with 50-60 buttons and the oneforall cannot mirror all of them. For example I mentioned perhaps using the 16:9 button on the Essence 2 as that would be unused by me but everyone has their preferences.

This is list of all of the codes for the T2100 or T2200, each code needs to be padded with leading zeros to make it five digits in length.

Again, thanks for the codes.  I must say that the One for All remotes are considerably more adaptable than I had thought and pretty well priced.

I use a Logitech Harmony setup at my own place but the Essence is perfect for my parents.

Are these the correct codes for a YouView DTRT2100 ?

I've applied MyView 00249 to my remote (simple4) but it does't open MyView.

Nothing happens..

Any ideas ?

Do you have a URC6440? If so that's the same remote as I have and the programming steps are slightly different. The Myview code of 249 is unchanged.

I found the programming details at this site

https://hummy.tv/forum/threads/hdr-fox-t2-using-with-one-for-all-urc-6440-universal-remote.3666/page...

I assume you are using setup code 1176 and have that associated with the PVR button

try this

press and hold setup button until the tv button flashes twice

press PVR button once

enter 994

press setup button briefly and the pvr button will flash once

enter 00249

press the key you would like to use for the myview function (e.g. AV or which ever you prefer).

the pvr button will then flash twice.

All being well the AV button will then take you direct to MyView.

Re: 'One for All' universal remote and DTR2100 BT/Youview box?

Go to solution

In addition to the two device codes previously mentioned (1176 and 3140) I have found two additional device codes that may be of use for using a BT Youview box with certain OneForAll universal remote models.

  • [SAT]  0283
  • [SAT]  0863

I can confirm that the first of those (0283) works for a BT Youview DTR-T2100 with the following older OneForAll models

  • OneForAll  URC-7541
  • OneForAll  URC-7562

Both of these older models as shipped only support 3 digit extended function codes and the 3 digit codes already listed earlier in this thread work correctly with device code 0283. Buttons not assigned correctly by default can hence be set using the OneForAll MAGIC-994 process and the 3 digit EFC's.

A couple of additional 3 digit EFC's I noticed.

  • 037 - Menu > Discover > TV > Top TV
  • 188 - ???  Something to do with TV/PVR mode?
