Pairing iPhone

Go to solution

Trying to pair my iPhone using the BT app with my YouView box.
app says that I need to upgrade the software on the tv box, but settings say already running most up to software.
probably missing something really obvious.
help please.

Re: Pairing iPhone

Assuming that the BT TV Youview box  is either a T4000  or T2100 I doubt whether the issue is the software version on the box.

Might be worth trying to pair again with the phone after ensuring that  mobile connection is turned off on the phone so it has to connect by Wi-fi.

If that doesn’t work I suggest detailing the Phone model and iOS or Android version and BTTV box model.

Re: Pairing iPhone

I have a T4000 running the latest software and my phone is a Pixel 4xl running Android 10.

The TV box is connected to my Hub2 using BT mini connectors.

Turning off mobile data makes no difference.

Re: Pairing iPhone

Using an iPhone Xr and I've just upgraded to iOS 13.4. Also a DTR2100. It wouldn't let me record using the app. a little while ago but it seems to be OK now. Only thing I've done is turn Location Services for the app. off and then on. May be worth a reboot after that.

Re: Pairing iPhone

This probably epxlains what has happened:

https://support.youview.com/mobile-app/

There was a new Youview IOS app about 2 months ago that caused problems for me. Record requests were ignored by my BT YV box depite unpairing and then re-pairing iphone to YV box attempts.

Today my YV IOS app is showing "temporarily unavailable" and a BT error code YVM5004

The app that should now be used for remote recording is:

https://www.bt.com/bt-tv-app

But I have not used it yet in anger

Re: Pairing iPhone

Thanks for that info, however I am already using the BT app, not the YV app.

It is the BT app which cannot connect to the TV box.

Re: Pairing iPhone

Tried all of the suggested. Upgraded iOS to 13.4, turned off location services and back on again , turned off mobile and used only Wi-fi.
I’ve rebooted the box and my phone.
Using the BT app not the YV one. it has no trouble finding the box - just won’t pair with it.
(AY182) is displayed. Doesn’t seem to be a recognised error code.
All really frustrating.

Re: Pairing iPhone

Apologies.

I have the BT app working (v 3.3.9) on an iphone running 13.4 iOS and is sending record requests OK.

The BT box is a T4000.
