Contact BT via phone or online chat. Tell them that your box is not fit for purpose and get a booking for an engineer to come round. he should be able to exchange your youview box for you. Say that you want to cancel the service if they start to be funny with you. Most companies bend over backwards to keep customers.
Thanks Nighthawkpyro, I'll do what you suggest. We don't seem to be getting anywhere at the moment and I agree that the Youview box is not fit for purpose.

Thanks to a couple of Forum posters we have had examples of Youview boxes that display the behaviour customers are reporting.
We are currently testing these in hopes of identifying a fix.

Thanks to all of your efforts taking the time to post and report your faults, and working with me to retrieve your box for testing. We have identified the root cause and have a patch lined up ready for deployment.
We are looking to target a near software release in the next month or so.
I will post confirmation once I have finer details.
