Re: Recording a subscription (internet) channel and watching another changed?

Hello all.

Does anyone know if this issue was fixed in October? Did anyone hear from Gavin Lambourne as I'm wondering if I need to do anything special?

Now that BT have kindly moved all of my Premiership Rugby games onto the Extra channels I really hope it has been fixed.  There are 4 games on today, 3 at the same time so I suppose I will find out.

Yours with fingers crossed.

Lisley

Re: Recording a subscription (internet) channel and watching another changed?

Hi @Lisley

There was a  recent BT software update 32.51.0 / 3.7.8 for T2100 & T4000 devices that Youview distributed from  late October that seems to include a number of Bug fixes.

Re: Recording a subscription (internet) channel and watching another changed?

Hello Zulu17.

That is encouraging as our box is T2100.  I'll go and make sure ours has the most recent updates before KO at 2pm.

If this works I may even dare to move on to series record for next week.  I haven't dared do that for the rugby for a while.

Thanks very much for the quick response.

Re: Recording a subscription (internet) channel and watching another changed?

Hello Zulu17

Well the update has now happened which I was able to confirm as I now have a Sports option on the main menu.

I have recorded the rugby in advance for next weekend.  The games on the main BT Sport channels have series recorded as they always did.  However the games on the Extra channels are a mix.  On Sport2Extra I was able to series record, but on the other Extra channels that option was not available.  Do you have any thoughts?

Many thanks in advance

Lisley

Re: Recording a subscription (internet) channel and watching another changed?

@Lisley  I presume you are referring to the 3 matches on Saturday afternoon (leicester, Wasps,Worcester home games  on Extra4/5/6).

On the Youview EPG the programme data does not reflect them as being part of a Series v. ie there is no Series CRID so as it stands only an individual programme  can be set for them

The Sunday London Irish home match on BT Sport Extra 2  EPG entry does have a Series CRID so is considered as part of a series.

But quite frankly the listings look like  may be need to be updated as the Youview EPG listings differ from the BT Tv App TV Guide.

What i suspect is occurring is that as crowds are restricted  the Premier League (soccer) and Premiership Rugby are allowing more games to be shown live - this means schedule changes and channel changes - I think the games you are finding don't have series links are those additional games.

only my observations --

Re: Recording a subscription (internet) channel and watching another changed?

Many thanks for the prompt and full response  Zulu17 and apologies for the delay in replying.

Needless to say I hadn't noticed that you can see if a programme is available to series record!  I will look out for that in future.  But I think you are probably correct in your observation as everything is so subject to change at the moment.  The good news is at least we have rugby.  I think I had underestimated the joys of rugby and sport in general as a brilliant distraction, especially at the moment!

Thanks again

Lisley

Re: Recording a subscription (internet) channel and watching another changed?

Sorry for being a bit dim, but how do you tell whether a program is part of a series, other than pressing record & then it giving you the record episode / record series option?

Re: Recording a subscription (internet) channel and watching another changed?

@cartoony

Each series has an internal identifier called a series CRID - Content Reference Identifier.
The broadcaster decides what constitutes a "series". A series could be defined by the broadcaster as the first transmission of a connected group of programmes, with each repeated group having a different series CRID. Or they could just put everything against 1 series CRID, including the repeats. Here in the UK one of our main broadcasters sometimes does one and sometimes does the other!

If you have just picked one programme event from the guide and asked for a series to be recorded then the Humax will record all broadcast episodes for the same series CRID providing that the individual episode has not already been recorded due to that series recording request. What it does internally is to remember which programmes it has already recorded and avoid recording those again. If the broadcaster has setup the repeats with a different series CRID then the Humax will treat each of them as separate series and you can set a series schedule for each "series" and then get more than 1 recording for each episode - 1 for each separate "series" requested.

If you delete a series request and then set it up again, this will cause its memory of what has been recorded to be wiped. Depending on how the broadcaster has defined its series CRIDs then this may cause some repeats to be recorded. Hope this helps

Re: Recording a subscription (internet) channel and watching another changed?

Thank you for that but I was trying to understand what I hadn't spotted as suggested by this comment:

"I hadn't noticed that you can see if a programme is available to series record!"

noticed how?

Re: Recording a subscription (internet) channel and watching another changed?

Hi @cartoony

I will explain how this can be done

To find a program CRID, first select something to watch, on you remote press the information button above OK on your remote, the on the coloured buttons (above the information button) press Red, Green, Blue buttons then press the same buttons again. This will populate the lower screen with a load of technical information including the CRID code for that program. Got that, simple?

Now read the text look for the CRID code if it has one, then go to the next incidence of that program and repeat above process, if it has same CRID code it with series link it. If your Program / TV provider has given it a different CRID or no CRID and you think it is missing then you need to contact them directly.
