Thanks everyone for their help to resolve this issue.
Please can someone from BT confirm how I return the "faulty" equipment please? I received a letter and an email from BT (both before the new box arrived) telling me I must return the faulty box within 30 days or I'll be charged for it, and that a prepaid return bag will be sent to me within 2-3 days. I haven't received a separate bag but a bag came with the new box to use for recycling the old one. Is this the bag I use to return it? I don't want to send the "faulty" box to the wrong address and risk being charged for it.
Please can BT confirm?

I will ask a moderator to check up on this, as they are aware of the circumstances.

Normally you would use the box and bag provided, and send it to the address on the label. It would most likely go back to be re-furbished, as there was no fault with it.

If you can use the returns kit that came with the new box that will be enough.

I've arranged so that we won't chase you for it again.
