Terrestrial channels Pixalilation and Blanking.

Over the course of a few months we are getting pixalilation and blanking when watching/recording HD terrestrial channels on BT TV. We were avised to reset the box which we have done a few times without this making much difference and we have checked all our connections and they seem okay.

When checking the signal to say BBC1 in BT TV HD the signal strength and quality is normally a 100%. In freeview and freesat which we have the quality of the picture in digital and HD is perfect without any deteriation in the picture quality.  The problem only appears to present itself in BT HD mode on terrestrial channels.

What does the community recommend to solve this problem and how could it be implimeted?

Re: Terrestrial channels Pixalilation and Blanking.

Hi Keith, I've found your posts about BT YouView and pixelation of HD channels really helpful, thank you, as I have had exactly the same problem. I've tried many suggestions from the forums, but still have the same issue. I also now know that it is definitely a YouView box problem, as HD channels straight off the TV are perfect and never break up. I've looked at all the various forum discussions about this but tbh have struggled to summise what the actual solution is (even when I click "go to solution"). Could you help and remember what the successful solution was please? Thank you

Re: Terrestrial channels Pixalilation and Blanking.

I have now solved this issue by (1) bypassing the aerial booster in the loft and then (2) fitting a variable attenuator before the YouView input and winding the signal strength down to 70%. This has completely stopped all breaking up of HD channels. Hugely satisfied and relieved, but crazy that this was the problem - surely BT need to know this?
