Youview box wont update

Hi,

I had BT youview installed yesterday.

Router connected, 1st box connected and all working.

Problem is with the 2nd box which is connected via powerline.

It says it is connected to broadband but when l try and do the first update it gets to 1% and the router turns orange, the update fails. After a minute the router returns to blue.

Have reset the box but the same thing happens.

I am getting all channels including internet ones except subscription channels.

Is the issue with the powerline?

Would a direct ethernet cable resolve this?

Thank you

Welcome to this user forum.

I assume you have purchased the multiroom (2 YouView boxes) option?

With two boxes it would be best to have a direct Ethernet to both, to ensure that the full bandwidth is avalable.

Re: Youview box wont update

Hi Keith and thank you for your welcome.

Yes l have the multiroom option.

Can l assume that the powerline will work fine for regular internet as all that seems ok? I need to connect a pc in another room also and would much rather do that via powerline. But for updates and subscription based channels powerline is not up for it bandwidth wise? I can hardwire the 2nd box fairly easily but will mean running it outside the house and in. I'll get a cable and run it loose in the house just to test first tho

Re: Youview box wont update

Test it first with a direct cable.

Which type of powerline adapters are you using, and how many are slaved from the master one connected to the home hub?

Remember, you must never connect more than one powerline adapter to the home hub, that is the master one, all others must be slaved of that master one, otherwise you will crash the home hub.

Here is an explanation Important - Using powerline adapters or broadband extenders

How do you propose to connect the PC in another room?
