Since the last software upgrade to my youview box, I have been suffering from the following problems:
I did report this via the official channels but got the usual "have you checked the cables" etc reply. Since this all happened immediately after the upgrade, I think that there's a very high chance it relates to the upgrade.

In the meantime, I presume if you go to Settings > Software information > Update software there are no updates available to you?
Yes, I have been in contact with Martin. We need to look at a few things so the problem is at present ongoing.
