Advice please

Go to solution

Hi all,

Currently moving onto a plot of land where I will convert a barn eventually but need some internet/wifi, there is a bt pole in the garden with cables but no cable down to the house, what would be the best set up to get connected, do I need to get a cable ran down to the barn or is it best to be wire free? Also what would be setup to use

@Therealthing85

You will need to register your new property with Openreach, as soon as possible, they are the people who provide the network, not BT Retail, who run this forum.

They will do a survey and give you an estimate of the cost.

If you get a good 3/4g signal where your plot is you could consider a mobile broadband connection.

Most of the mobile phone companies do them. You would be given a mobile router which connects to the 3/4g mobile phone network and you then connect your devices to the router using wifi.

The one of the advantages of this system is that you can take the router with you to any location as it is not tied to your building plot.

They mobile broadband varies in price but starts at about £17 for unlimited data, text and calls

Hi @Therealthing85 and welcome to our community.

Sorry for the late reply. The advice from both @gg30340 and @Keith_Beddoe is sound. Best of luck with your barn conversion.

Cheers

David
