BT Mini Connector not working upstairs

I had have a BT Mini Connector set now for around 8-9 months to connect my PC (upstairs) to my router (downstairs). I've had no problems with it up until recently.

The Data light seems to light up intermittently, I sometimes have connection for a day. And other days no connection at all.  The Mini Connector kit works fine when both of them are plugged in downstairs but as soon I bring them back up, I get nothing. 

Any suggestions would be appreciated with this as it becoming incredibly frustrating. Thank you
