Hi,
Trying to get my Swann CCTV working with my Home Hub 5 but I cant appear to set up the Dynamic DNS in the Home Hub menu - it doesnt appear to give an option for the swann DDNS.
Can anyone provide any info as to whether it is supported etc?
Thanks, Andy
Is there not an option in that menu for manual entering of details?
Something like 'Other' at the bottom?
Don't use hubs here and the Hub 5 I have is in it's box.

Only a limited number of DDNS providers are supported. Usually a CCTV system has its own DDNS service provided by the manufacturer within the camera or DVR system itself. There is no need to use the home hub.
Normally its an option within the DVR settings, that is the only place you would enter it. Not many routers have inbuilt DDNS support, so people who make DVRs, include it in their firmware.
The DVR checks the public IP address at regular intervals, and if it changes, it updates the manufacturers provided hostname.
Foscam do a similar thing with their stand alone cameras.
Do Swann provide their own DDNS service, or do they suggest one to use?
That would be correct, just follow the guidance, or look online at their support site.
Still nothing. Try putting the DDNS details in but just keeps saying failed. Am I missing something?
thanks
I cannot really help with this. I would be surprised if the user name is the same as the domain name.
I suggest looking at their support pages.
If all else fails, then try using NO-IP DDNS service, which is supported by the home hub.
A single hostname is free.
