How to tell us that an account holder has passed away?

I am very sorry that someone close to you has passed away.  Thank you for taking the time to let us know.

We appreciate that this is an extremely difficult time for you so we want to make the process, of dealing with your loved one's BT account, as easy and straight forward as possible.

What we will need to sort this out for you,


  • the account number and name of the account holder – you can find this on a recent paper bill (if you don’t have it that’s ok)
  • what you want us to do with the account, for example, change the name of the account holder or close the account (We don't need to see the death certificate)

Alternatively, you can contact us on 0800 169 1663 and one of our team will be happy to help.  Opening hours are 8 am to 9 pm Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 8 pm Saturday, and 9 am to 6 pm Sunday.
