New Customer - How does getting a new box work?

I am moving into a house soon and know that the previous tenant was with BT. I have never had my own broadband so I have a few questions.

If I buy a new contract, will I get a new box? 

Will the box come in the post?

Do you just plug the box in and you are connected or does an engineer need to come out to install?

If by 'box' you mean a router, then yes you will be sent one in the post and just plug it in
