My landline is dead and prior to being dead was intermittently faulting after the new hub arrived. I've tried to log it via troubleshooter but it keeps sending me round in circles. Could the problem be an 'open order' that was started in 2011??! Alternatively a rival telephone company has been digging up half my town and I hope that's not the cause. n.b. my internet broadband works absolutely fine.
I don't want to call a helpline as with no landline I am reliant on a mobile and I have limited minutes. Can anyone help please?

it is unusual ( not impossible) for broadband to work ok but have no dial tone have you checked from the test socket to see if you get dial tone there
if still nothing then phone 0800800150 from mobile should be free and report no dial tone on phone
