I was paying over £90 per month with BT for phone and broadband. A Salesman in an EE shop (owned by BT) said he could halve that if I signed up for a new package, which I did. I received an email stating that total ongoing charges would be £43.49. Elsewhere in the email it said my monthly direct debit would be £83.50. Unsurprisingly they took the higher amount out of my account. I could have understood that if I already owed them money but I was in credit. Why have I been overcharged?
