About half of Youtube vids won't load today. The page loads but the video is blank with a spinning loading animation, then eventually timing out to say an error occured.
Here's an example, does it work for anyone? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4AldLr0ifs
(Actually the HTML5 version using Chrome does work but it takes a very long time to load, the Flash version in Firefox never loads)
I've tried the obvious stuff, rebooted hub, different computers, different DNS, etc. There's been an Openreach van outside today which usually results in something breaking, so...
One of the URLs I see Firefox failing to connect to in the status bar is "r6---sn-cu-ajtd.googlevideo.com", I can't manually ping it either.

It's not you.
I have the same issue today. No Youtube Videos will play.
I have to wait 20-30 seconds before the video starts to play. I see the same spinning animation as the OP.
Same problems here.
Here is the cause of the fault:
1. The sub-domain for googlevideo that is trying to load the content in my case is:
2. This resolves to:
3. This IP is owned by BT Internet (BT must have a hosting deal with YouTube)
inetnum: 220.127.116.11 - 18.104.22.168
status: ASSIGNED PA

4. This server is not responding to TCP SYN requests on port 443:

5. There are bad routes inside BTs network that is causing this:

6. Depending on the DHCP (dynamic) IP you have from BT will depend on which routes you take inside thier network.
This will work for some BT customers, and not for others.
Depending on the video, and where its hosted (inside BT or with Google directly) will depend on wether the content will load correctly.
7. Only BT can fix this problem.
8: Edit: Restarting your router a few times might eventually give you an IP that has good routes to these destinations
Worked for me after TWO restarts - first one didn't work, second one resolved it.
