I'm posting this on behalf of a friend using BT in the Boston area. He is having intermittent outages with BT Broadband and his hub stays on green for hours. Its very intermittent and for the past 2 weeks its been fine and but then it will randomly drop for again. The drops last for hours at a time.
My current guess is a faulty router or a issue remotely as its being forcefully rebooted by "SAAF"?

Have they reported the fault to customer services?

They could try a factory reset of the hub by pressing the recessed button with a pin for about 20 seconds until the lights flash, but it is possibly a faulty hub.
