Having problems with frequent disconnections that last for 1-2 mins and it seems I aways get the same message:

Connection to the Internet has been terminated.(Reboot,Reconfiguration, forced termination)

Have contacted BT previously and had an engineer round, by the time they got here the connection wasn't dropping out as much, but it's started again. Every time I contact BT by the time the engineer is round it generally tends to start working again.

They couldn't find an obvious fault last time, can anyone offer advice?

I am using ethernet however frequent disconnections for others on general WiFi as well.

Re: Frequent disconnections (Reboot,Reconfiguration,forced termination)

Hi @cowo8, welcome back, and sorry you have a problem with your broadband connection.

Would you post the stats from your router (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser) and if  HH5 then go to troubleshooting then helpdesk and if HH6/SH2 then advanced settings then technical log information.

Have you tried the quiet line test with a corded phone? - dial 17070 option 2 - the line should be silent.

cheers

John

Hi John

I've included stats in the spoiler if there's anything you notice (connection hasn't gone down today)

I searched for the same issue and had a low noise on the quiet line test so reported this and should have someone coming round tomorrow

Re: Frequent disconnections (Reboot,Reconfiguration,forced termination)

Just need to wait until openreach engineer has been and then post updated router stats

Re: Frequent disconnections (Reboot,Reconfiguration,forced termination)

Yes the openreach engineer has already been here today, found some type of fault and as I said reconnected things in the cabinet or something. However an hour or two later the issue started again.

Can't remember the specifics of what he told me unfortunately

Re: Frequent disconnections (Reboot,Reconfiguration,forced termination)

Is the quiet line test now silent?

Re: Frequent disconnections (Reboot,Reconfiguration,forced termination)

approximately the same as previously. although i'm having doubts as to whether i'm actually hearing anything and its just the noise the phone itself makes lol

i'm not sure what the engineer said about this himself although presumably he tested it when he got here and then left and gave it the all clear as he thought it was fixed. he never mentioned a noisy line though so i guess the issue may not be related to that

broadband speed has gone up though which is a positive but still disconnecting

Re: Frequent disconnections (Reboot,Reconfiguration,forced termination)

If still dropping connection frequently then won't be long before speed starts to reduce  if there is still line notice when using the test socket and corded phone then I would get another visit from openreach
