I have a 4G router with unlimited data and I am now looking at buying another data sim as a back up and also possibly another router. As I look at deals online most offer the higher data allowances on 5G sims. My problem is that the area I live in (remote highlands) there is no coverage of 5G. So, if I buy a 5G data plan, does it automatically default to 4G data if you have no 5G coverage. Obviously, I would have to look at whether the 5G sim is compatible in the 4G router. Wondering if anyone has ideas as to what my best solution would be and any tips on router advice.
