Apple TV 3 months offer

Activated this Apple TV extra today.  Sat here watching Apple TV but noted that you need to cancel before end of free period.  I now find it's impossible because BT, their app etc say it's not active.  I logged into my apple account and it's showing as a promotion but has to be managed via EE.   I can't cancel it and have no confidence that I won't be explaining this long story to someone at BT in 3 months time.  Is it just me?

Although mine activated straight away it took a couple of days to register on the BT site that it was active.
