Hi there,
I have only had my BT TV box for a few days and I notice that it makes a fair amount of noise when on. It sounds like the hard drive inside it is really working very hard. Is that normal for these boxes??
If not, how can this be fixed?
Thanks
If it's a Pro Box, it shouldn't be noisy. It could have a faulty hard drive which is causing excessive noise.
Hi @noopjay, sorry the BT TV Box is making noise when it's on.
Please check the below list and ensure that the box is located so it is properly ventilated:
If the box is already well located as above post back and let me know.
Cheers
John
Hi there,
Apologies for the delayed response.
The box is very well located - nothing to compromise it.
I guess the issue is whether a certain amount of noise is to be expected or not. It sounds like when a really old computer is processing loads of things at the same time - that sort of noise. My current PC is closer to me than the BTTV box, but the BTTV box is the only thing I can hear.
Thanks again
Which box do you have?
As stated above, the Pro box is very quiet in operation but it's predecessors had a known problem with hard drive failure
It says BT Box Pro on the bottom - so should be quieter potentially?
It should be almost silent, certainly unperceivable from a normal viewing distance
Thanks for posting back @noopjay
Sorry for the problems you're having. The BT TV Pro box shouldn't be as noisy as you have described. Give my colleagues a shout in the helpdesk on 0330 1234 150and let us know how you get on chatting with them.
Thanks,
