bt email used as alias in gmail suddenly stopped sending mail

Go to solution

i have been using my bt email as an alias in gmail for years set as the default address for sending mail. it stopped sending mail 2 days ago, still receives fine.  I have done everything i can find online incl checking settings, changing ports, removing the alias address and re-installing, deleting messages from the BT server (not that there were many).

In gmail it looks like the message has sent , it doesn't and I get a delayed error message stating

421 Too many messages (2.3.5.3) from 209.85.167.41

it doesn't work whether I am sending to one recipient or up to 3 recipients.  Any ideas?

Are you a BT Broadband customer or paying for your email through a BT Premium email account?

If you log onto the BTMail account directly bypassing gmail are you able to send and receive emails in the BTMail account?

If it is working as it should when you use it without gmail it would appear that it could be a gmail problem rather than a BT problem.

You should try asking on the gmail forum to if they can help.
