I use a gmail account to "pull" emails from my BT account and then autoforward them to my own server - has worked fine for a couple of years.
2 hours ago it stopped working (no changes from my end) and Gmail is giving an error "Server returned error "We were unable to locate the other domain. Please contact your other provider."
There is nothing on the BT settings changed, and the POP server looks to be the same if I check there.
Help!!
Dave
Solved! Go to Solution.
Can you retrieve the mails directly with a client configured as POP3?
No, it doesn't download, but I don't get an error message (Outlook using POP direct)
Are you a either BT broadband customer or paying for Premium Mail? If neither, your email account will have been downgraded to Basic Mail which is only accessible via webmail.
I'm a BT Broadband customer (and have three acounts at 3 addresses!) and have been with BT about 30 years!
You could try disconnecting your router from line for half an hour or so to trigger a different public IP address which in turn may trigger accessing a different POP3 server.
And then, with no further intervention from my end the problem suddently resolves itself!! -problem started at 09.29n this morning and clears 6 hours later with no apology or message from BT, but plenty of frustration at this end dealing with 22 messages via webmail.
So much for Pemium service!
Thanks for your help - appreciate it!
Dave
It's not a Premium service, it's just a residential email service with no specified SLA.
Premium mail for the paid for service is also a total misnomer, it it just the same standard service.
