Receiving calls from people saying I called them, but I haven’t!

keep on getting calls from people who say that they have missed call from me.  Any ideas how to resolve without changing my number.  I assume someone has a burner phone

Sounds like someone spoofed your number, a common thing withs scammers now, so the calls look to be coming from the UK, once they get blocked they spoof another and so the cycle continues.

I had this a month ago and equally had calls coming to my mobile.  The easy way to spot them is that the first 6 digits of the call will be exactly the same as yours.

They will move on to other numbers.

trouble is I am getting phone calls from the people who have been phoned by the spoofers as they have a missed call and of curse it is my number showing up

any idea how i can stop my number being used, i am reluctant to change my number

Yes I know, thats what happened to me.  You are just going to have to ignore it at the moment.  If you get any calls from a phone with the same first 6 digits as yours ignore.  It may be spam it may be someone wanting to complain that you are phoning them, either way no good will come of answering it.

They will move on to the next number shortly.

TBH, the spammers don’t want anyone to return a call , they just want the call they make to appear genuine, but if it’s a mobile phone number , and the person targeted answered , and noticed it was a mobile number calling ( your number in this case ) and they said they were from ‘Your Bank’ ( for example ) I would be asking why ‘My Bank’ was calling from a mobile phone, ( presumably it is a mobile number as you are posting in the BT Mobile section )

yes it is my BT mobile and everyone returning a missed call are genuine.
