2.5Ghz or 5Ghz

Go to solution

We have a Stick logger on our solar panel system which only uses 2.5Ghz, I've set up to connect to the router but I cannot access it from my IPad it uses the 5Ghz. Any ideas on how to achieve access to the 2.5Ghz on my Ipad?

even with your ipad connected to the 5ghz in the hub you should still be able to access the device even on 2.4ghz.  however if a problem then turn of the 5ghz in the hub and ipad will automatically connect to 2.4ghz and you will have both connected to 2.4ghz network.  once completed then just turn 5ghz back on and should be ok

I understand the reply but am hesitant to switch off the5Ghz and hope that when I switch it back on that everything will be fine. You used the phrase “should be ok” and that leaves a big question in my mind “should be “ not “will be “, not being a computer specialist I have an inherent scepticism regarding electronics as I’ve had to call in specialists when I was working. Now I’m retired I have no such expertise to hand.

Will consider this more in the cold light of day - tomorrow - when I’ve rested

regards Alec

When you switch on the 5ghz network your 2.4ghz connected devices will remain connected and any dual. And devices are free to reconnect to the 5ghz network

If you are hesitant then use forum search and find others who have done exactly the same without any problems

You can turn the wifi bands on and off with impunity, devices will simply reconnect.
