Slow and very intermittent wifi

Hi. I am at the end of a long run of copper and no chance of fibre although we have a fibre exchange. I am getting very slow and or no service for several hours then back to “normal” 20mb speeds then drops again. I have run the my bt test and it shows speeds to the device of 0.2 download and 0.3 upload when I am having problems. I have Sonos and various iPads, phones, laptops , TV etc plugged in. About 20 devices max. Most are dormant and no heavy use with video or Netflix type apps. Welcome any suggestions as the engineers I get from open reach have done the best they can and the home engineers don’t care as it’s getting to the router. The wifi is unusable for 50-70% of the day. Previously it was fine. Slow but steady.

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods

 please can you post the stats from your router (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser) and if  HH5 then go to troubleshooting then helpdesk and if HH6/SH2 then advanced settings then technical log information . 

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

just to clarify i don't think the speed to the router can be improved and accept that 20mb is the best i can get 

The problem is that the wifi speed varies.  sometimes it is 20mb and most of the time is about .02mb  

it used to be stable and now its unusable for a lot of the time.  

i have had many engineers visit the house and the next ne is due Monday but they don't care as it intermittent and works as far as the router.

sorry but that is not the hub stats from advanced settings/technical log information

connection time is 23hrs was that manual reset or router dropping internet connection?

Those stats look OK but because you removed the exchange and cab you are supplied by we don't know if they could be better.

Unfortunately no ISP guarantees WiFi speeds as there are too many variables. Have you tried changing channels?

@pippincp  and @imjolly The OP is happy with connection speed
