Hi all,
New to forum first fault i have had on my BT line since having it installed. Tried to make a call before but when dialling in the number get constant dialling tone. Ok so i tried to make a call into the line from my mobile get NUT. Removed all equipment from the sockets & extensions including any BBI filters. Tried a corded handset i know works in the master socket but same issue both outbound and inbound. Removed front cover of master socket and plugged corded phone into test socket still the same issue. Yet when i ask BT to perform a line test it says the line checked is working fine! Are BT line tests not accurate? Cos surely if my test calls fail to NUT there test should also pick this up or do they only check for switch outages?
Regards

I am assuming that you pay BT for your calls, and not another service provider?
Line tests are only an indication, they are not 100% accurate, and they don`t normally test back towards the exchange equipment unless done manually by a BT technician.
BT need to get this checked at the BT exchange distribution frame to prove the fault. It could easily be a faulty line card in the exchange, especially as its not detecting your tone dialling.
