Openreach are unable to get the fibre cable to my house because the duct beneath my (brand new) driveway has been crushed.
1. How long Can I hold onto regular broadband? And seeing as I need to renew my contract atm, who will sell me a regular broadband package?
2. If openreach had to dig up my driveway to repair the duct that carried their fibre cable, would they make it good afterwards? Or do I have to get that driveway repaired once they’re done?
many thanks for any replies in advance, Stu

1. Provided you don’t renew your ‘contract’ or move to another provider (both events likely to require taking FTTP ) you can stay on the copper pair service for a while , possibly years , there is no way to know exactly but there no imminent risk to your copper service being removed, if the exchange is not a FTTP priority one then you may find a new copper broadband supplier , but most will offer FTTP as the default now it’s showing as available.
2.Yes any repairs to duct the ground excavated is reinstated , with some surfaces this may leave little or no evidence (like block paving for example, relaying the blocks should leave no evidence of then being lifted in the first place ) , but other surfaces like imprinted concrete or resin bonded can’t be restored invisibly so a scar/witness marks are inevitable and you won’t get the entire driveway replaced, if this is ‘new’ work , it’s likely they damaged the duct , you could ask them to return and fix the damaged duct or agree to replace the driveway once OR clear the duct stoppage.
Great, thanks for the reply. Helped clear up my way forward.
