Is it possible to have the hybrid connect connection permanently on for a period?

To cut a long story short, since Dec 2024 I've had issues where my DSL link drops almost every day. There are periods where it is more stable but for the most part it drops on average every 2 days but can sometimes happen multiple times in the day e.g today it has dropped a total of 6 times since 5pm (it's now 9pm).

This is deeply embarrassing when I'm connected to clients computers trying to fix their issues.

I've spoken to support and they sent out an engineer who seemed angry that he'd been called out because he is the type who only fixes physical issues like cut cables etc. He did however replace my master socket/filters and checked the line coming into the house. That was 2 months ago.

I spoke BT just now, who were frankly terrible, and they basically railroaded me into another engineer visit without doing any troubleshooting. In a 20 minute call she maybe spoke for 2 minutes total muttering something about "bypassing".

That appt isn't until the 28th and I simply cannot tolerate it being another wasted visit (bearing in mind if will require me to step away from my work commitments for however long it takes) especially if the next 4 days are as disrupted as today.

One of the reasons I contracted to the hybrid connect service was because it offered a backup mobile broadband but one of the things they don't really highlight is that it only kicks in if your broadband is fully down. It's of absolutely ZERO use if you have intermittent and frequent DSL link drops.

With that in mind does anyone know if BT can temporarily switch me to using the hybrid connect method until the visit/the fault is fixed?

If you have the add on of Halo3+ that should cut in and provide internet access via hybrid when you lose internet connection which could be achieved by unplugging the rj11

If the drops in connection affect your business then maybe you should have a business account and not residential

I'm not a business. I'm a homeworker. I'll look into Halo3+!

Halo 3+ doesn't appear to offer anything more effective for intermittent outages than hybrid connect.

I also object to paying more for a service that doesn't actually solve intermittent issues.

If they have jumped directly to an engineer their is likely a fault they can see their end but in answer to your question if you have hybrid connect on your account then unplug the broadband connection from the back of the hub, this will make it appear the connection is down and the hybrid connect wiĺl kick in till your engineer appointment.

Re: Is it possible to have the hybrid connect connection permanently on for a period?

The main benefit from Halo3+ is arguably what you already have , Hybrid connect , if you feel that the time it takes for the Hybrid Connect , to detect the failure , and start to connect to the the 4g network is so long that the ‘landline’ service is restored before you actually get to use the mobile service , and therefore you never actually get an uninterrupted service, there is nothing stopping you disconnecting the landline service from the router  , forcing the Hybrid connection to takeover permanently, or at least until the landline service is made stable .

if you have a service that is so unstable that it fails , and reconnects frequently, as to be obvious to the OR representative, why was the original technician unable to either repair the issue or send the ‘ticket’ to the appropriate division that could ?
