Struggling to connect to Broadband

Hey Everyone,

Wondering if i could get some advice/ideas as to what problems may be affecting my home network.

My broadband very suddenly disconnected around 2 weeks ago, we've tried everything from hub restarts, full power cycle of the hub and changing the ADSL filter and broadband cable, but to no avail.

The light on the Hub flashes purple for 10-20 minutes then changes to flashing orange were it remains.

I've contacted BT customer service and opened a fault, but its taking quite a while for the issue to be remedied, and am trying to figure out if i'm missing anything?

Any insights appreciated

Re: Struggling to connect to Broadband

Those lights suggest an external fault.

The use of the ADSL filter implies that it is a part fibre (FTTC) connection, so the only other thing it could be, (as you have already changed the filter), is the cable connecting the hub to the phone socket.

Did you also reseat the plug at the hub when you changed the filter?  If you have a spare cable, trying that may be worthwhile.  Otherwise, it’s a wait for Openreach job.

(Edit: Actually, a full factory reset might be worth a try.  Hold the reset button in for 30 sec, until the light goes green.  Just be aware that it will drop all the settings back to defaults and clear any custom settings you put in).

Re: Struggling to connect to Broadband

Have you tried taking faceplate of master socket and connecting to the test socket and see if that helps

Do you have a dial tone?

Re: Struggling to connect to Broadband

@imjolly  Good idea but I assumed, if they are using a filter, that it is an old style socket.
