so if they got into my wifi saw my mac listed in devices how did they screen mirror my mac?
this is insane
make and model of power line adapter would be handy to know this
powerline repeats the wifi like this eaxample
say your router wifi is myrouter34686
powerline wil likely be repeating this as yrouter34686 ext on your netork
because this has no password or wifi sscurity they can login here with zero problems the router now lets them connect
change the router wifi and password then setup a password to the powerline this is likely unsecured
fyi if there are telling you this then they are likely more bothered that they can see actvity as anybody actvely snooping wouldint
but I know for a fact they were somehow screen mirroring my TV
I even got proof now
What is your proof?
ES Share/AnyEx (Smart TVs): Install the ES Share or AnyEx application on your smart TV and download the corresponding PC version to allow the TV screen to appear on the laptop.
HDMI Capture Card (Wired Method): Use a USB HDMI capture card. Connect an HDMI cable from the TV's output (if it has one, rare) or a streaming device (like a Firestick) to the capture card plugged into your laptop's USB port. This allows the computer to display the video feed.
In any event, you must change the BT hub's wireless password and its Admin password and make sure that your powerline adapters are also password protected.
@Sml5678 if you have proof. Contact the police, this is not an issue for here tbh
on my tv it shows there was another tv that was connected to it but its now been disconnected
sorry thats Wifi Direct. They could have used Wifi Direct because with this they don't need your router or to be on the same network to connect to the TV. This is still illegal
Whatever way they did it they are defenitely screen mirroring my bt tv and PS4 and maybe more devices. They've been doing this for a long time I will try my best to secure my network.
BT chat advisor told me to reset all my devices to factory settings do I really have to do this?
https://www.bt.com/help/broadband/learn-about-broadband/learn-about-the-bt-hub-manager
From a web browser:
Please note: when you Save your new wireless settings you will be disconnected from the network. Go to your device’s Wi-Fi settings
everything connected via wifi will now show the new network connected using the same details you just changed
ethernet devices will connnect as before
if yoo have a powerline adapter secure this with a password
change this not reset every device This a 5 minute job
you need to do this or get them to send you aa neeed a router if you dont want to change SSID
If they got onto our network will it show up on the hub manager pager or can they somehow be on the network invisible.
I know for a fact these a holes have been screen mirroring everything on my TV and spoofing on my internet for a long long time how someone could drop so low in life is beyond me this is something I would never do even if someone paid me.
I have a ring door bell outside connected through a white wire which is plugged in to my socket.
And then there's another plug for the ring door bell which flashes a blue light.
Are these plugs safe to use?
yes if powerline is likely unsecured look up this is how there a getting acesss at least awitch this of untill you get around to change the wifi details and adding a pasword to any powerlines
while there in your network everything they do if they do anyway is done from the ip adress assinged to you from BT point of view it looks your doing it
stop delaying switch the router off untill you can change wifi details or get bt to send you a new router
