Re: standard bt line in with BT smart hub wanting to use a net gear night hawk router

The BE3600 is a TP Link device, not Netgear.

Why do you think it will make any difference to your erratic speed, particularly if using it in conjunction with a smart hub?

Assuming you do wish to use it, you have 2 options.

1. Use it purely as a WiFi access point leaving the hub to do the routing, in which case give it an IP address outside of the DHCP range of the hub and Gateway 192.168.1.254 and connect the 2 devices LAN port to LAN port. Turn off the WiFi on the hub.

2. Use it as a second router, in which case set the WAN port to DHCP, make sure the TP Link is in a different subnet to the hub (e.g 192.168.2.xxx) and connect the Hub LAN port to the TP Link WAN port. Turn off the WiFi on the Hub.

You have posted on the ADSL board. Do you really have only ADSL or do you have VDSL, what speed is your broadband?
