The solution has already been given. Either buy a modem from Ebay or replace the router with the DSL model.
Hi thanks for the reply. My apologies I should have been more clear. I bought a bt openreach huawei HG612 3B modem and connected it to the router, but the Internet light on the router is red and no matter what I do it won't connect to the internet. The asus android app detects the router and I've followed the instructions but the Internet light on the router doesn't change. That's why I think the router is faulty but I thought I'd ask the question just to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong.
Thanks.
Select VLAN 101 in the settings.
Forget that the modem takes care of that. Have you entered the username and password correctly?
Does the modem connect to the internet?
Hi thanks for replying. I've just managed to borrow my sons laptop and connected the modem to it via the ethernet port, but the laptop isn't connecting to the Internet. All the lights on the front of the modem are green and the two lights on the ethernet port at the rear of the modem are both Illuminated.
Thanks.
you need to set up a PPPoE connection on the laptop
You did have the router set up to use PPPoE as the connection?
No. Excuse my lack of intelligence but how do I do that?
Thanks.
Hi, I have recently purchased the ASUS RT-AX86U router to replace my BT Smart Hub 2.
I have FTTP.
I have connected the new router directly to the Openreach Modem on the wall.
I can connect to the new router, but the router has no internet.
am I missing something obvious?
thanks
