Hi all,
I’ve just set up some new BT Advance phones for my Mum but when a caller leaves a message, the answer phone continues to record. It’s an engaged tone beep followed by a more urgent beep until it finally stops. This noise is then part of the message that plays back on the answer phone. Any help appreciated for making the answer phone hang up when the caller does.
Thanks in Advance
Who provides her phone service?
It’s a new Fibre broadband install, not with BT

This is usually a problem with other phone service providers and not BT Retail, where the exchange equipment does not disconnect the call when the calling number hangs up. (first party disconnect). If the phone does not see the line voltage drop, then it will stay connected.
You need to speak to your phone provider and see if there is an issue with the line not disconnecting.
There was a very similar post on this thread, but in this case the customer was on a different provider.
Thanks, I’ll give them a call and let you know
much appreciated!!
