BT Broadband activation

Spoiler
Spoiler

Good evening all

I moved into my new build home last Friday and placed a order with BT broadband, it was arranged to be delivered tommorow and activated Friday, however they have since been in touch stating openreach are having issues it will not be ready until the 17th of this month but delivery and activation will still be made tommorow, activation Friday, I was annoyed but got over it...

A couple of days ago I recieved a knock on the door from openreach asking for permission to do some work regarding the issues, I of course said yes and asked him if once he had finished it would be ready there end he said yes.

my question to you guys is when the router arrives tommorow will I be able to go online straight away or do I have to wait for the activation date of Friday? (Hopefully won’t have to wait until 17th)

apologies if this is a stupid question

Re: BT Broadband activation

If it’s a New Build do you have an ONT installed, which lights are on and what are they doing. Specifically the PON Light?

Re: BT Broadband activation

Hi Starwire

I do yes, LOS, PON and power lights are all on green lights, they are the only ones showing currently, is this a good sign?

Re: BT Broadband activation

It shows you have a light signal so Openreach have completed their work. Activation most likely Friday but you can check with the FTTP team. 0800 587 4787

Re: BT Broadband activation

Yes, that’s what you want. A Solid PON Light. The LOS Light should never come on, if it does it’ll be Red and you’ll be in the s#%!.

Re: BT Broadband activation

Hi all

So I’m back again, my broadband has arrived I have hooked it up correctly, to then find steady orange light... problem! I ring BT at first they say openreach haven’t completed all there work which I explain they have, which they then confirm openreach have indeed done everything, i was then told ‘BT haven’t closed off something’ and I now have to wait another 2-3 working days for them to work around this issue, I am not very happy at all I am meant to work from next week now I can’t do this, is there any way round this issue to speed things up?

Not a good start to being with BT 🙁

Re: BT Broadband activation

Back again, and 2 activation dates later we still have no internet, really angry at this now, I have now been scheduled to have it activated by Monday but I have zero confidence in this, I have been told 3 times by different people this week they are sending an email to there manager to speed up activation but nothing, this is ridiculous.. is there anyone I can speak to online on here to help me with this ongoing issue?!

Ring the FTTP team tomorrow, they are the only ones who can deal with this issue. 0800 587 4787

Re: BT Broadband activation

Thanks for the reply

This is what I have been doing, where 3 people all at different times this week have said they have put in a request to get it activated but will take 24-48 hours to go through, kind of lost faith in what they are saying now to be honest.
