On further investigation I saw a previous unanswered post regarding this problem so tried a few things and discovered that normal pictures taken by the camera on the phone are stored in an "album" called "Camera" and these are the images that BT Cloud uploads during a backup. Whats app pictures that you take with the phones camera plus all other images that are sent to whatsapp are stored in an "album" called "whatsapp". In order to make BT Cloud backup these images you have to move them to the camera "album". You do this in Gallery by choosing albums then choosing the whatsapp album and then "Edit", "select all", move to the album "Camera". On the next backup they will upload to the cloud. It would have been a lot easier if it was possible in settings to choose under "Photos" which album is backed up...
