I have a newish build, 2014. They only provided sockets downstairs unfortunately. But this gives me an idea to get some wiring done from the upstairs to downstairs using 2 pair telephone cable and linking the 3 extensions together.

That would be a good idea and should solve you problem, allowing you to use the TrueCall unit fully.

Looking at equipment, can I go from SH2 to first extension socket, first extension socket to second, second to third extension socket, and third to fourth socket like that in series.

Plug truecall device into the first extension, phone 1 into extension 2, phone 2 into extension 3 and phone 3 into extension socket 4

Is this the way to go. Assuming I don't need no master socket, just the 4 3/3A sockets to link up all the wires.
