BT Sport App Error code VC586

Hi, I have recently purchased an Amazon Fire 10 tablet and downloaded the BT Sport App from Google Play Store, as done previously on my old Android tablet.  For some reason, I am unable to cast the BT Sport coverage to my Google Chromecast from this Fire tablet, but still can from my old Android one.  When I try to mirror my screen to my tv I get a message saying that "to strengthen our efforts against content piracy, screen mirroring is no longer permitted .... if your subscription permits large screen access, you will continue to be able to watch through Chromecast or any of our large screen platforms (VC586)."

I don't understand why this has appeared on my Fire tablet when I can still cast from my old Android one, as I clearly have the correct subscription to permit large screen access surely.....??  I've tried rebooting my router and the Chromecast device (as suggested on previous threads) but to no avail.....can anyone help, please??

Re: BT Sport App Error code VC586

The Google Play Store isn't usually installed on Amazon Fire devices - I assume you installed this yourself?  Amazon tablets aren't supported for the BT Sport app, and Amazon doesn't natively support communicating with Chromecast devices.

There's a difference between Chromecast, and screen mirroring.  Chromecast is used with the Chromecast icon in the top right corner of the BT Sport app.  Pressing that button causes the app to talk directly to the Chromecast device and send it instructions.

The VC586 error you're seeing is caused by you using the screen mirroring/sharing function of your device (from the system menu). This is your device mirroring your screen to the Chromecast, which uses insecure channels to share the video - this is blocked to prevent piracy.

If you see the Chromecast icon in the app then try using that and it should work. If you don't see it then I can't really help I'm afraid - that'll be an issue with the way Google Play Store has been sideloaded onto your device.

Re: BT Sport App Error code VC586

Yes I installed the Google Play Store on the Fire tablet in the belief that I could use the Google version of the BT Sport App to cast.....but, as you have guessed, the Chromecast icon is missing from the version on my Fire tablet - guessing this was a waste of time then haha!

I'll persevere and try to find a way to get the Google Play Store to sideload a version with this icon....although I fear this may be a fruitless task.

Thanks
