DRM is not without controversy. Critics of DRM contend that no evidence proves that DRM helps prevent copyright infringement arguing that it serves only to inconvenience legitimate customers, and that DRM can stifle innovation and competition. Furthermore, works can become permanently inaccessible if the DRM scheme changes or if a required service is discontinued.

Is that the fault of BT?

It seems to me that Darren and the team are trying their hardest to keep abreast of these requirements.

That's not my problem. I bought the product on the basis it supported BT Sport in 4k, which it no longer does.

I brought it for the same reason, sold my old chromecast ultra which played 4k fine as i thought the upgrade would be worth it, i now use my 1st gen 4k firestick for bt as it runs allot better than the chromecast with google and i get 4k. Its googles fault though for making what seems to be a 2017 quality device that was not released until 2020

An update is rolling out to the device, one of the listed issues resolved is 

• Platform improvements to help some apps, with HDR 4K video playing and DRM video playback

Is this going to help the bt sport app with 4k?

No luck unfortunately - performance of the BT Sport Ultimate streams is no better after the update.

Anyone else tried using ultimate through this device this season, thought it maybe a one off last week but the frame rate for me has been shocking

It's been terrible for me the last couple of weeks, it was much better than this for me last season. I've managed to get the Tottenham / Wolves game to stream via BT Sport 1 instead of Ultimate so there are no more frame drops but at lower quality. Not what I thought I'd need to do for this device.

The really wierd thing is that the 4k uhd channel used to work perfectly fine when chromecast with Google tv was released!!

I can watch 4k hdr movies on Google tv, Prime and Netflix perfectly fine.

Any update? Performance much worst for me the last month. I've purchased a ethernet connection for my chromecast with Google tv and not improvement. Really really frustrating!!!!
