Big drop in sync rate

hi all,

Hoping for some advice on my connection.

Always connected at maximum rate for line (79995) and maximum data rate has always been in the range 80500 to 84000).

Two nights ago, the line resynced and the upload sync changed from 20000 to 19999.

Last night, the line re-synced and my down rate is now syncing at just above 70000. Have tried restarting the modem, but it stays connecting at the same rate. There has been a jump in the maximum data rate to 85000.

Any advice on what is happening - running the speed checker gives me 65.5Mbps which is the minimum standard for my line, previously I would have been getting 73-74 Mbps.

Line sounds fine after running quiet line test.

There has been a lot of work in our area installing new cabinets, so I'm putting it down to that in the first instance - though not sure why this would cause such a significant drop in sync speed.

have you checked the logs filtered using WAN to see if there has been connection problems recently

Thanks for your post.

Doesn't seem to be any issues in the WAN - router had been up for around 14 days previously to first re-sync, before that 14 days it had been up for 60 days and was only reset because the 5GHz wireless stopped responding.

This was the message that seemed to start the re-sync. The amount of uploaded and downloaded data didn't change, so it seemed to be purely a resync rather than a reboot.

has your firmware just been updated?  if so maybe  wait a few days see if it settles and if not try 1 factory reset using recessed button on back and see if that helps

Tried tech support on facebook who asked me to do a factory reset as advised in this thread, still connecting under 71000 compared to the 79995 over the last few years.

Will now wait and see what happens, not keen to keep restarting in case there is any DLM on the line.

As it's within the stated minimum for the line, customer support aren't massively interested, which is fair enough, but also frustrating.

Interestingly, while looking at various things yesterday I didn't realised that the Gfast 250 option was available in our area, and it's only a few quid more expensive than what I'm paying at the moment, so if this does not return to normal in the next few weeks I may upgrade anyway.
