Blocking a spam Domain

Go to solution

I keep receiving Spam email claiming to be from McAfee.  I block the sender or, sometimes, block the domain.  However each email claims to be from a different domain eg:

MLbVZTYDLGAZyRXEvWeCmtsfhKtgxxs @HSMYFmbylzRiiBD.com

I assume that the true domain is hidden.  How do I know the real source?  A friend blocked the domain of his spam emails but it turned out that he'd blocked gmail and therefore stopped himself from receiving gmail emails.  (We unblocked it and now all is well again.)

Is there a way to identify the domain or should I simply 'block sender' which makes no difference whatsoever to the number of spam emails I'm receiving?

Thanks.  I had done a search but obviously wasn't looking in the right place.  It's reassuring that it isn't just us who are getting these spam messages.  I at least know that there is not much I can do to prevent them except wait and hope that BT can come up with a solution.  It appears that blocking a Domain isn't worth doing as it isn't actually the real domain.
