Re: Broadband Speed Comparison

pippincp  I attempted to upload info but the photo didn't like the format.

meanwhile the connexion speed showed 140 Mbps.

Re: Broadband Speed Comparison

Both .jpg and .png are acceptable formats. If file size is a problem use an online optimiser to reduce the file size.

Re: Broadband Speed Comparison

connection speed from hub stats is as expected 330/50mb

are you running your speed tests using ethernet cable from hub direct to your device - not wireless

I use ethernet cable (cat5e) for testing and general usage at all times.

Regarding connexion speeds, how can I get my speed restored to what BT stated what I could expect to achieve

Re: Broadband Speed Comparison

So as far as I can see, the connection between your hub and the cabinet is correct at 330/50
But when you test it, your getting about 140/30 ish

The problem now is knowing exactly what is causing this. It could be a myriad of things, from the smart hub itself to the computer you use to test.

You are going, HUb>cat5>Laptop ?

Is the laptop's ethernet port 100mbps or 1000mbps, its also possible that the cat5 cable is not allowing a 1000mbps negotiated connection, need to check that link is full speed so click on the ethernet icon, open network & internet settings and then choose properties then scroll down and have a look at link speed (received/connect) and ensure it says 1000/1000
Then, make sure nothing is connected to the hub so unplug everything else and turn off wifi.
Make sure your computer is not doing anything else (like doing an update etc, on windows 10 use taskmanager and make sure CPU and disk activity is really low.
Then test again and let us know.

Re: Broadband Speed Comparison

Gary C

For testing, Master Socket 5C to Hub, Cat 5e to Lap Top

In Settings / Internet /Properties link speed(receive/ transmit) : 1000/1000 Mbps

Speed test on BTW Performance tester  is 147 Mbps down / 48 Mbps up.
