Do you have any other sockets, as extension wiring will interfere with the broadband, especially if there is anything plugged into those sockets?
When Openreach visit, they may replace that master socket with one which has a removable front section and a test socket behind.
Is yours number 1, with a front section which is screwed on? If it is, there will be a test socket behind which can help to prove the fault.
