DNS Issue Xbox and Facebook not available.

Hi,

I cannot access xbox.com or facebook.com. NSlookup shows the same IP address for both domains ie. 81.130.111.239 which is incorrect.

If a do an nslookup using google dns it works and I get correct responses.

This means xbox gold is not working via BT smarthub.

I cannot change the servers they are hardcoded.

BT say its the hub and a need a new one. I doubt this very much.

Any ideas or has anyone else had the same.

Try a factory reset of the hub

FYI.

If i run a VPN, it works....no surprise as it is using different dns servers. Unfortunately you cannot use VPN's on an xbox one.

Try running the VPN on the laptop and set it up as a Wi-Fi hotspot then connect your xbox to that

That's an idea. Can you suggest a hotspot software to use.

Also this has to be a bit issue with their DNS.......

Windows 10 has a built in hotspot capability, just go to settings and search hotspot

Re: DNS Issue Xbox and Facebook not available.

Xbox One:

  1. From the Xbox One home screen, go to Settings > Network > Advanced settings > DNS settings > Manual. (If Settings doesn't appear on the home screen, select My Games & Apps, then Settings.)
  2. From there, enter the Primary DNS as "208.67.222.222" and the Secondary DNS as "208.67.220.220"

Re: DNS Issue Xbox and Facebook not available.

The DNS settings workaround did not work. Not sure why
