Do the home hub and fibre box need to be near each other

Go to solution

Hello,

I just ordered FTTP and have watched the video and read the blog posts about it. They mention that you need two plugs nearby, is this one for the SmartHub and one for the Fibre box?

If so, do I need to have the SmartHub and FIbre box next to each other? I have a network cabinet in the middle of my home with ethernet cable routed around the house. I would like to have the SmartHub in this cabinet as it is central and would be the best place for the WiFi to be situated. I have assumed that the SmartHub and Fibre box are connected via Ethernet, so it should be ok to have the Fibre box where the engineer needs to put it, and then have the SmartHub where I want it?

Also, is it possible to get the Fibre box installed on the first floor or in a loft, or does it need to be on the ground floor?

Thank you,

Chris.

The ONT and hub are just connected by Ethernet so can be up to 100M apart if you wish.

First floor install is possible, just talk to the engineer. Loft is doubtful.
