I signed up for BT Broadband at the beginning of May (was on Virgin) and was told my package would be guaranteed at 45 mbs. Well, having run an internet speed check every week, I have never got higher than 24 mbs. Having also recorded how many times it reboots itself (I had 19 in one day), I find this disgusting and considering going back to Virgin. As I work from home at the weekend, I am finding that I am constantly frozen out of meetings due to the speed being too slow and not acceptable for what I am paying for! I have just run a speed check and it has come back at 8 mbs download and 0.5 upload. What can I do to ensure I get the speed I am paying for or should I just go back to another company. This has been going on since day one. I understood that I had to wait for 10 days to settle but 3 months later and the internet speed is rubbish and the internet keeps rebooting.
welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the stats from your router (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser) and if HH5 then go to troubleshooting then helpdesk and if HH6/SH2 then advanced settings then technical log information .
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
All the speeds quoted by BT are connection speeds to the hub not download speed no ISP guarantees download speed
