Hi,
I'm buying a house which was newly built in 2019 along with the neighbouring 2 properties right in the middle of a village.
I have used the openreach checker and BT DSL checker which both show the property I am going to buy is connected to a fibre enabled cabinet, but that I am too far from the cabinet. The cabinet is located about 1.2km from my property (via the road, closer as the crow flies) - should I not be able to get fibre at this distance?
All other properties in the village can get fibre and are connected to a different cabinet - one which is over the road from my property! I have been told the cabinet over the road from my property is full, which is why I am not connected to it (although research shows there is only 90 properties connected to this cabinet).
A little more digging and there is only 1 property next to the cabinet I am connected to, it is within 50m of the cabinet, and when I use the fibre checker for that property - it also says the cabinet is enabled for FTTC but that the property is too far from the cabinet?!
I go round in circles with Openreach who are not helpful at all.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Jamie.
can you post the results from dslchecker using you address as you will not have a phone yet leave exchange and cab details
Thanks for your reply, this is what I get from the dslchecker. All of the other neighbouring properties are served by cabinet 6.
This is the dslchecker for my neighbour, who live within 20m.
Using address is not always accurate. You don't happen to know the phone number of your new property if is still occupied to see if you get same result
Unfortunately not, the current owners aren't living in the property so I'm unsure if there is an active phone line.
