FTTP: how long after the cable is outside my house before it's available?

The FTTP cable  was strung up a month or so ago.  It's driving me nuts that I can see it on the pole ten feet from my house but I can't order it!

I'm stuck at 7Mbps (we are 1.5km from the cabinet!)

(a) It has nothing to do with BT retail (this forum), Openreach provide FTTP

(b) Nobody can predict as every case is unique

(c) A briefest of search of the forum would reveal this has been asked countless times with the same answers.
